Five Things on Friday

Friday, January 06, 2012

1. Eli turned eight weeks old yesterday. What the haaaaaaaeeeeell? He's so super big and getting so cute I just want to stare at his face all day and run around taking pictures and videos of him. I'll be doing a two month update next week, but in a nutshell, he's been doing great.  He loves to play, is full of smiles and babbles and seems reaaaaaaaally close to giggles. But enough gushing about my little boy - I'll save that for next week.

2. I saw a pair of round-toe wedges at the Gap outlet earlier this week. I debated buying them and ended up leaving them there. Now I'm having whatever the opposite of buyer's remorse is. Cheapskate's remorse? I keep thinking about them and wondering if they were ugly or if I should go back and get them. I can't find them online - the closest thing I could find was these. Picture them in dark brown with a shiny strip around the edge. Ugly or no? Help me decide what to do with my $39.99.

3. Did you know if you have a Starbucks gift card and you register it online, you get a free drink on your birthday and can accumulate points for a bunch of other rewards? Of course you knew that. Apparently, I was the only person on the planet to not know this. But now I do, and I'm working on my gold status. I want that personalized gold card. I can't wait to swagger up to the counter at the Bucks and whip out that puppy. In the meantime I'll just keep buying decaf nonfat lattes like it's my job.

4. I've been reading some great books lately. I just finished Room by Emma Donoghue and am now reading The Virgin Cure by Ami McKay. I got a couple of others for Christmas - Sarah's Key and 11/22/63 and will be reading those ones next.

5. I've decided to hop on the bandwagon late and start doing the January Photo A Day Challenge with Instagram. I'll be catching up on January 1-6 today. My Instagram is amyw1981 if you would like to follow along, or see my progress here.

  2. I don't know what the Gap shoes look like, but I do know the feeling of Cheapskate's remorse. I also know I love my round toe wedges (not Gap, but are the cutest).

And I think I'll jump on that instagram photo a day bandwagon as well. I love bandwagons (mostly I just love the instagram).

  4. Were they comfy? If not, then leave them. If they were and you are STILL thinking about them, buy them.

  5. I got my Starbucks Gold Card a couple of weeks ago, & I feel like a baller every time I go there now. GO FOR THE GOLD!

GAP Outlet items aren't listed on Gap.com. Do you live near the outlet you went to? There's one right down the road from me, if you really want the shoes & can't get back to an outlet. Let me know! (@heysuburban)

  6. I love wedge shoes... I got a pair from Locale (for way more than 39.99) and absolutely love them but I feel like my feet are being chopped up into tiny bits when I wear them. They're not as comfy as strappy wedge sandals because there is no support across the front of your foot. I love them though!

These are the ones I got: http://www.localeshoes.com/ca-eng/women/shoes/wedges/84204288-halko/27

  7. how was the virgin cure? I have it on my wishlist & am wondering if it's worth buying.

Sarah's Key is SO good, 11/22/63 is, um, long. Very long. And rambly. I think I'd read 11/22/63 first if I were you....

  8. Ok, how is it even possible that your baby is that old? THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE!

Those shoes are friggen awesome. I'd wear them while mopping JUST to get my money's worth out of them.

I GOTS the gold card and it is ah-may-zing. Free add ons as well! You want HOW many different syrups? They're all free, ENJOY!

Just finished "Plum Spooky" by Janet Evanovich (mah favorite author EVER), apparently I forgot how to read after baby number 2 was born but DIDN'T forget to stop buying books even though I wasn't reading them, like, ever. As always, I snort coffee out my nose from laughing too hard pretty much in every chapter.

I'm waiting till February to do the instagram challenge. I'd like to be fashionably late at this point. Like REALLY fashionably late.

  9. Well ladies, I went and got the shoes yesterday - thank you all for the feedback!

Sour Garden - I'm still reading The Virgin Cure but so far I love it. I read The Birth House by the same author and I like this one better!

Supahmama - your comments always make me laugh :)
