Saturday night brownies nomnomnom
Saturday, September 19, 2009Today I was struck with the urge to bake something chocolatey, gooey, and tasty, but without ingesting a gazillion extra calories. I usually consult my Hungry Girl cookbooks when this happens. (I looove Hungry Girl! Without her I wouldn't have known that you can substitute pure pumpkin instead of oil and eggs when baking and I would have zero clues about tofu shirataki noodles, and that would be sad).
The Swirls Gone Wild Cheesecake Brownie recipe caught my eye immediately. I whipped up a batch of these tonight and trust me, they did not disappoint! The recipe makes a BIG batch of brownies, and the finished product looks really pretty and more time-consuming than it really was. I recommend it if you're jonesing for something chococheesecakey but don't want to feel like a heifer afterwards.
I did make the brownies without the fat-free powdered coffee creamer, because I couldn't find the stuff anywhere in Sobeys, and they turned out fine without it.
Omnomnom!

Can't wait to try these! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteI'm liking them :) Even the boy is a fan and he doesn't generally like anything cheesecakey. They taste a lot more decadent that 133 calories!

ReplyDeleteyum! I'll have to check into this book! :)
ReplyDelete@katy you and me both!
ReplyDelete@ashlee i have two Hungry Girl books...the original book and the 'everything under 200 calories' book. there are some really good recipes--awesome salads and lots of desserty-type things.
