OMG! A Legally Blonde: The Musical Review

Tuesday, April 09, 2013

When I got the opportunity to see Neptune Theatre's opening night production of Legally Blonde: The Musical, I jumped at the chance to go. I saw the movie many years ago, and my memory's a bit foggy, but I have flashbacks of dogs, something called the Bend and Snap, and lots of pink. So I assumed that dogs, Bending and Snapping, and pink, PLUS singing and dancing, would make for a pretty enjoyable night out.

The movie was good, but I absolutely LOVED the musical. The cast was perfect. All the songs were so well done and very catchy. I've been humming the opening number, Oh My God, You Guys, since Friday.

And yes, there were dogs, there was plenty of pink, there was Bending and Snapping. It was everything I remembered about the movie, but better. That being said, you don't need to have watched the movie version to appreciate this play. Even someone who thinks Elle Woods is Tiger's ex-wife will appreciate the music and the snappy dialogue.

My husband was my date to the show, and pretty early on in the evening, we noticed he was in the minority - it appears that Legally Blonde: The Musical is more of a draw for the ladies than for men. But don't let all the pink girliness fool you: the production is entertaining for guys as well as girls!

Legally Blonde: The Musical is running until May 26, so be sure to check it out if you can. It's perfect for a date or a girls' night out. Click here for showtimes, tickets, or more information.

    1. It was so good. It was genuinely funny, too, not "cheesy" funny. Go if you can!

  2. Oh my, Amy, I would have LOVED to see this. I saw the upcoming shows on Live @ 5 yesterday (and I'm super stoked) and they talked about Legally Blonde and how good it was. I'm so pissed I missed out, I didn't even hear it was playing until this week! Grr!
